Vancouver Neighbourhood
A Saturday here is coffee from Breka on Bute Street, then a short walk to English Bay and on into Stanley Park, both minutes from the door.
West End is a dense apartment neighbourhood of about 47,000 people, and nearly every home is an apartment. Four in five rent, households run small — one or two people — and the typical age is around forty.
What comes up for sale follows the buildings: almost all apartments, with a handful of townhouses and houses. One- and two-bedroom places make up the bulk of it; three bedrooms and larger are a small share.
Four main bus routes loop around the three big streets — Davie, Denman and Robson. The 5 runs Robson into downtown and the 6 runs Davie. More people here walk or cycle to work than drive.
The restaurants sit along Davie, Denman and Robson. Breka Bakery & Cafe on Bute and Amoka Coffee and Bites cover coffee and scratch baking.
Stanley Park and English Bay are a few minutes' walk from most doors. West End Community Centre is at 870 Denman Street, with an ice rink and an auditorium.
